“We were hoping to work with the prison to get answers after Dr. Aafia was brutally attacked in her cell and ensure she is getting proper care,” said Faizan Syed Executive Director of CAIR-DFW. “The prison has decided not to release information on the attack, and she has been locked in solitary confinement for 48 consecutive days. Our nation failed to protect Dr. Aafia and is now punishing her through prolonged solitary confinement, which is cruel and unusual punishment.”

Tomorrow, various civil rights organizations, activists, and community leaders will rally in support of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. The coalition is demanding she be immediately released from solitary confinement. The coalition believes that Dr. Aafia is innocent of her charges and advocates for her to be released from U.S. imprisonment. The rally will consist of chants, speeches by various community leaders, concluding with a prayer for Dr. Aafia.
